About EarthJOY
Where Stories Grow in the Trees
At EarthJOY, we believe stories don’t just live in books.
They live in forests.
They whisper through leaves.
They wait along winding trails.
We created a place where time slows down—where adults remember how to wonder and children feel completely at home in the magic of nature.
Welcome to EarthJOY.
Our Story
EarthJOY began in 2007 as a tree-climbing company—growing one rope at a time. Back then, Bill was an electrical engineer and I was a licensed physical therapist. We were building careers… but quietly dreaming of something more rooted.
In 2015, with my dad’s blessing, we built our very first magical treehouse on my family’s 200-acre farm. His love for the land shaped us. His trust gave us courage.
That treehouse was more than a structure in the woods.
It was the first page of a new chapter.
Since then, EarthJOY has grown into three enchanting treehouses, a tiny home, and access to 85 additional acres of wild Kentucky land. We’ve created more than 20 miles of themed hiking trails—including our Storybook Trail—where guests can wander through imagination, discovery, and reflection.
Every path holds a lesson.
Every tree has a story.
What We Offer
At EarthJOY, you don’t just stay overnight—you step inside a living story.
Treehouses
Rustic, playful, and thoughtfully designed, our treehouses invite you to slow down. Hammocks sway. Fire pits glow. Lanterns flicker. The forest becomes your backdrop.
Nature-Based Living
There are no bathrooms inside the treehouses. Each has a private composting toilet just steps away, and our shared bathhouse is a 5–10 minute woodland walk. It’s all part of gently returning to simplicity.
The Storybook Experience
Our trails are filled with imagination—storybook pages, hidden messages, whimsical surprises, and invitations to reflect. Whether you are five or sixty-five, there is something waiting for you to discover.
Beyond stays, we offer guided tree climbs, forest therapy walks, retreats, and gatherings that reconnect people to land—and to themselves.
More than 100,000 guests and climbers have come through EarthJOY. Each one leaves with a slightly different story.
Our Heart
EarthJOY exists to remind you of something you may have forgotten:
You belong in nature.
You are allowed to slow down.
Wonder is sacred.
Our land now spans 285 acres,—like stepping into a story where the trees are alive with light and quiet wisdom.
We wonder…
What story is waiting for you here?
What part of yourself might you rediscover?
Come wander.
Come listen.
Come turn the page.

Our Family
EarthJOY has always been rooted in family.
What began with my father’s deep love for this land has grown into a shared vision of stewardship, creativity, and connection. This place carries history — and it continues to evolve.
Alex serves as the full-time manager of our treehouses and built EarthJOY’s very first tiny home. Married to Ben and a proud mother of six children (and four beloved dogs!), she brings strength, creativity, and heart into everything she touches. Raised with a deep connection to this land, she understands the spirit behind EarthJOY and helps carry it forward with intention.
She also founded Cleo’s Legacy, a dog rescue born from compassion and the belief that every life deserves safety and love — a value that aligns beautifully with the care we extend to this land and our guests.
EarthJOY is more than a business.
It is a place where land, family, and purpose intersect — in ways that continue to unfold.
